Sunol Wilderness (Sept 2007)

The Sunol Wilderness.

This land - known today as Sunol Regional Wilderness - was originally used (almost exclusively) as ranch land. Under the East Bay Regional Park District's multi-use land management policy, cattle continue to graze in the 6,859-acre wilderness. Today, camping, picnicking, hiking, back-packing and equestrian trail rides attract thousands of park visitors a year.

High Sierra Backpack Trip (September 2007)

In September, 2007 I joined several colleagues on a high sierra backpacking trip. We ascended the spectacular drainage of South Fork Bishop Creek on the popular Bishop Pass Trail to enter Kings Canyon National Park and find the high, granite country of Dusy Basin and its wonderland of alpine lakes, ponds, streams, and peaks.

From October 13th to 20th, 2007, Jacquie and I visited New York City. We stayed in an apartment in the lower East Side and had a wonderful time. The weather was perfect and the museums superb. Check out my slide show for a tour of Manhattan.

The Grand Canyon (May 2008)

My Grand Canyon photos - it was a rewarding experience for me - a life long dream to experience such an immense landscape and huge elevation changes. I hope you enjoy these as much as I did taking them - I am filled with vivid memories and have an unparalleled sense of accomplishment - 18 miles in 2 days and a total elevation change of 9,160 feet - first down and then up!

It was a experience that will stay with me for quite some time!

This Mid Peninsula Open Space is a combination of Big Sur, Mt Tam and the Humboldt Coast. The Purisima Creek Canyon, with its towering redwoods, rushing creek, and understory of ferns, berries, and wildflowers. Coastal scrub and hardwood forests of tanoak, madrone, and Douglas fir border the cool moist canyon. Magnificent views of the coast and Half Moon Bay are visible from the northern part of the preserve.
